John Thornton BA (Hons) F Inst. SMM
John's career started with a management-training program for a blue chip retailer before moving to Gallaher where he worked on the Hamlet and Manikin brands.
His experience was expanded into the public sector during a successful period with Warrington and Runcorn Development Corporation. His career moved via Granada to Thresher as Marketing Planning Manager. During this time John developed a number of key brands including the innovative Wine Rack. He instigated the segmentation of the Thresher estate prior to being promoted to a senior role with Whitbread Inns.
Subsequently John was head-hunted by the Greenalls Group and was part of the management buy out team that formed the Parisa Group.
Prior to launching as an independent consultant, John teamed up with Entrepreneur of the Year, Nader Haghighi as Marketing Director of his newly formed Leisure group.
David Perry B.Sc. (Hons.) MBA (Dist.)
Although trained as an engineer, David's early career moved away from Metallurgy to a more commercial environment in the Wine & Spirit trade.
After a series of management roles within the Grand Metropolitan Group, David joined a small team of innovators to open Drinksmart, the largest single-site off licence in Europe. His retail career moved from operations to buying with another start up company where he developed the range for a chain of convenience stores before moving to the Co-op as a senior buyer.
David's innovative thinking inevitably moved his role from buying to marketing. He subsequently took a full-time MBA where his enthusiasm for business ensured his graduation at the top of the year with distinction.
Following his instinct for innovation, David joined the newly formed Parisa Group where he first worked with John. His diverse independent consultant roles since have included projects for innovative gift retailers, off licence groups and bakeries.
